The Disaster Risk Management Commission (DRMC) of the South West Ethiopia Region is the government institution mandated to lead and coordinate disaster risk management activities throughout the region.
The Commission works to protect lives, livelihoods, property, and the environment from the impacts of natural and human-induced disasters through effective prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience-building initiatives.
To lead and coordinate comprehensive disaster risk management efforts that reduce vulnerability, protect communities, and strengthen resilience across the region.

Early Warning
Monitoring risks and disseminating timely early warning information to communities and institutions.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
Coordinating preparedness measures and emergency response operations to save lives and reduce disaster impacts.
Humanitarian Assistance
Supporting effective coordination and management of humanitarian assistance during emergencies.
Recovery & Rehabilitation
Supporting rehabilitation, recovery, and restoration efforts following disasters and emergencies.
Climate Resilience
Promoting climate resilience and sustainable approaches that reduce long-term disaster risks.

Effective disaster risk management requires collective action. The Commission works closely with regional and federal government institutions, development partners, humanitarian organizations, civil society organizations, and local communities.
